How To People With a Calm Personality

This goes both ways. If you are wondering if you have a calm personality, here are ways you can find out. If you’re looking to getting a calm personality, here are ways that can help you.

1. They Respect Other People’s Space

A reason people associate calm personalities with introversion is that introverts are great at respecting people’s space. And that is a major attribute if you have a calm personality.

People with calm personalities do not invade other people’s personal space. They respect boundaries set by other people and this makes people around them feel respected. They wouldn’t question your boundaries and understand everyone needs them.

Having a calm personality is only going as far as the other person lets you. Asking and accepting the information they give you. It makes them feel a lot more relaxed when talking to you. And this helps them open up a lot more.

People with calm personalities always have good intentions. So, when they ask you why something is bordering you, then you know they really mean it. Not just looking for gossip material. They also let you move at your own space.

2. They Are a Good Listeners

Being a good listener is also associated with having a calm personality. A lot of people know how to talk but not a lot of people have mastered it art of listening. Anyone can talk to you and you hear what they say, but do you actually listen?

Listening is more than the words coming out of someone’s mouth. It’s their body language, their eye contact, their intonations, etc. Paying attention to this is what makes someone a good listener. Which is completely different from just nodding at things someone says.

People with calm personalities have mastered this and this makes them great at listening. They also do not interrupt you and let you have your moment. This makes the other party feel heard, seen, and understood.

Sometimes you do not need the solution to your problem, you just have to feel heard and seen. It helps you conjure up a solution unknowingly.

Another tip to being a good listener is talking. That’s right. At intervals, talk about things you relate to. This helps the other party feel like they are not alone. Just make sure you don’t make it completely about you.

3. They Do Not Stress Out Themselves

Having a calm personality does not mean things do not trigger you or get you sad. You feel the emotions and the bad vibes in the air but choose to filter it out. Instead of wallowing in misery, you take your mental health seriously. You do things that relax you instead of the opposite.

A good reason calm people give off soothing energy is that they are relaxed on the inside. It isn’t easy giving out what you do not have. So how do you do this? Simply making out time to do relaxing activities.

Some of these relaxing activities could be meditating, taking quiet walks, listening to soothing music, cooking, or eating a meal you love.

Doing something that requires your attention enough to forget about the world. As long as you’re grounded, you have more chances of being calm.

Another key trait about calm people is that they identify their triggers. They don’t just avoid these triggers but work on them. This comes in handy in a scenario where you can’t avoid them.

They are intentional and mindful about the activities they engage in. And this is what they project on the world and others around them.

4. They Are Problem Solvers

People with calm personalities are usually great at problem solvers because they are already in tune with their environment. They would offer you a solution and even think up one for themselves. They think about this first instead of fretting and panicking at things not going right.

Another introverted trait and so many introverts such as INTJ are known for their amazing problem-solving skills. This is because they don’t see how panicking helps. So why not find a better approach out of the mess. This is a lot better than dwelling in it.

They also do not appreciate people dragging them into their own shit storm if they won’t take up solutions. A general trait with people with a calm personality. This makes them look slow to react but in reality, they are a step ahead of everyone.

5. They Are Warm and Empathetic

People with calm personalities are usually warm and empathetic. They listen to your problems even when they themselves might react differently, they understand.

They may offer you hugs, a shoulder to cry own and a nice meal afterward. Or maybe just a solution to your problem.

Talking to someone who gives off calm vibes always makes you feel better. Their aura tends to rub off on you and that’s because they truly understand. They feel deeply for people around them and are great at putting themselves in other people’s shoes.

You don’t necessarily have to be a feeler to do this. Thinkers can also do this with ease. They even do this a lot better because they don’t let their hypothetical emotions cloud their judgment.

6. They Are Realistic and Grateful

This doesn’t have to mean they are complacent; they are just happy with how far they have come. They set realistic goals and go for them. This way they don’t break their hearts unnecessarily.

This doesn’t mean they don’t have bigger dreams. Understanding the dynamics of human nature is very important if you want to achieve a calm personality. Not everyone is like you and you’re not like everyone either. Understanding the basis of this helps in so many situations.

This is why they stay positive in tough situations and take life a day at a time. When they make plans, they do so with backups. This always keeps them in check as they can counter most surprises that spring on them.

They are also known for going with the flow. Just as they know how to solve a problem, they know when it’s futile and when to call it quits.

Routines To Help You Cultivate a Calm Personality

Here are a few ways you can cultivate one and be a calmer person.

Plan: Plan out your day and possibly your week. But leave room for chances. What I’m saying is, have a backup plan for your backup plan. It also minimizes the strain on your memory.

Prioritize self-care: Practice self-care because you can’t give out what you do not have. Get sufficient sleep, meditate, engage in relaxing activities, and take your nutrition seriously.

Be more authentic: Be more authentic in how you connect with the world and the people in it. It could be people you’ve known all your life or a stranger you just met at the park.

Walk often: Trying walking because it gives you time to think and connect to the environment. Walking is also a great exercise with other health benefits. Keep the blood regulating and your heart beating this way.

Don’t do things last minute: Avoid doing things last minute as it can draw your patience thing. Again, another reason you should consider routine, schedules Etc. Planning leaves you plenty of time for yourself. It prevents you from burning out.

Set boundaries: Also respect people’s boundaries. This makes it easier for people to trust you. And you do not have to worry about people disrespecting you. (Not a guarantee)

Anger management: Work on your anger and think before you respond to things. You realize flaring up hardly ever solves any problem and you tend to regret it in the long run.

Developing a calm personality can be a challenge but it is not completely impossible. And you’ll be happy you gave it a try.
