-

If you want to know what logic feels like, have a sit-down session with an INTP. Yes, they are that good. We love having INTPs around. These thinkers are usually sub-divided into two groups. These are the INTP-A and the INTP-T.

This article is about the INTP-T. if you want to know more about the INTP-A, you can click that link. So, what can you expect from the INTP-T?

Exploring the Life of the INTP-T

The T in INTP-T stands for Turbulent. This personality type takes a more laid-back approach to life. This shows in their decisions and how they react to different circumstances in life.

This type is more diplomatic when dealing with others. When compared with the enneagram of personality, they usually identify as type 5s. However, unlike INTP-A, this type usually has a type 6 as a wing.

How Rare is the INTP-T?

INTPs make up 3% of the world’s population. There are more assertive INTPs than turbulent INTPs. Thus, INTP-Ts are rare to find.

So, it’s easy for them to feel misunderstood.

Strengths of the INTP-T

1.      Creative

Turbulent INTPs come with a world of creativity. Their imaginative minds make them a force to be reckoned with. They can think outside the box and are perfect for finding loopholes in ideas.

It’s not surprising then that INTP-Ts often end up in creative roles.

2.      Calm

INTPs are generally calm. However, this is taken to another level by the INTP-Ts. This personality type is calm in almost all situations.

This comes in handy when they are facing an emergency. They can think through the pressure and find a way to solve the problem.

So, if you have an urgent matter that needs solving, asking a turbulent INTP for possible solutions is a great idea.

3.      Less Impulsive

INTPs are perceivers. Thus, they are more flexible and spontaneous. This often means that they are more impulsive. However, INTP-Ts will be a bit different.

This personality type often worries more about security and being self-sufficient. That worry is enough to keep them from making rash decisions.

Thus, INTP-Ts make better decisions than other INTPs.

4.      More Sensitive

INTPs are logical people. There’s just no way around it. However, this is a bit reduced with turbulent INTPs. This type usually has a more developed extroverted feeling (Fe) function.

Thus, they have more empathy for others and try to promote harmony. This makes them more diplomatic than the INTP-A. Thus, people often feel at ease with the INTP-T.

5.      Analytical

While all INTPs are analytical, this is especially evident in this subtype. When they have type 6 as their dominant Enneagram type or even as a wing, they become obsessed with analysis.

This gives them an edge when considering both angles. Their analysis is no longer done just to find the truth to important questions. It’s done as a means to remain secure.

The stakes are even higher for this personality type.

6.      Opinions of Others Count

Unlike the INTP-A, INTP-Ts actually take the contributions and opinions of others seriously. This has a lot of benefits.

First, it allows them to see other perspectives and options that they might not have thought of. It also allows them to see the bigger picture.

These things are priceless when you have to make a big decision.

Weaknesses of the INTP-T

1.      Slow to Make Decisions

While INTP-Ts can see more angles to an issue, it usually comes at a price. This personality type will be slower when making decisions.

They will mull over issues and need time to analyze a situation properly. When rushed to make decisions, they can become irritated and stressed out.

2.      Overthinking

Turbulent INTPs might also be prone to overthinking. Because they overanalyze things, INTP-T will overthink these issues too.

This can lead to several problems. One of them is complacency. INTP-Ts will often find themselves thinking about so many issues and not actually having the energy to take action.

A closely related problem that they also face is analysis paralysis. Here, this personality type is stuck in a thinking loop. It can be quite frustrating.

3.      Insecure

Turbulent INTPs might face bouts of insecurity. The reasons for this might differ from person to person.

Some people might feel insecure due to overthinking or craving to be secure. Others might have issues with self-confidence.

If this insecurity is left unchecked, it can lead to a lack of trust and deep paranoia. If you feel that you are having these issues, seeing a therapist might prove to be really helpful.

INTP-T and Finances

INTP-Ts are adept at handling their finances. INTPs want to be self-sufficient. INTP-Ts also need the added protection of security.

Thus, INTP-Ts will always have savings for rainy days. However, they may be less reluctant to invest this money into other things. This is because of the fear of losing their independence from the loss of finances.

INTP-T and Relationships

Planning to date an INTP-T? Here are some things you can definitely expect.

·        Taking the Initiative

INTP-T are super introverts. While they obviously enjoy certain types of conversations as we shall see, you will have to take the initiative. This is especially true when starting conversations.

Thus, INTP-Ts do best when they are paired with an extrovert or an assertive partner. The natural partners of the INTP-T are ENTJ-A or ESTJ-A.

However, this certainly does not mean that INTP-Ts can only have great relationships with these types.

·        Small Talk won’t Work

If you are someone who lives on small talk, then this will be a problem. INTP-Ts want conversations that are mentally stimulating and deep.

They want you to bare your soul to them. This is what keeps this type hooked to their partners. They want to learn from you and are happy when you have so much to give them.

You won’t even get to the dating stage if you don’t have something substantial to offer them.

·        Quality Time and Words of Affirmation

Quality time is most likely going to be their love language. They love spending time with those they love. Those conversations and comfortable silence can be very nice indeed.

Some INTP-Ts might also value words of affirmation. This is especially useful when they are worried or facing a big decision. Do these things and you just might have a permanent place in their hearts.

·        Direct and Honest Conversations

INTP-Ts love honest and direct conversations. So, if you feel something has to change, don’t be afraid to let them know. They take these things well and see them as a way of improving their relationship.

Don’t take it badly when they do the same too!
